Creative Challenge

Written and Created by PaperCraftCentral Susan

Do you like having a Creative Challenge as a paper crafting stimulus? I know I do. I love to have an idea to stretch me and keep me trying new things.

For example, I once followed a 52 week scrapping challenge. I created a journal, a page at a time, in response to a different challenge set each week by the coordinator of that challenge. That stretched my imagination and technique skills so much. I still enjoy browsing through those entries, just to remind myself of ideas I explored and may not be using as much as I could.

That's what gave me the idea to give you some PaperCraftCentral Inspirational Ideas and come up with some ways to encourage you to craft and play now and then.

I suggest using the challenge ideas as an excuse to get together with some friends who love papercrafting too. Do the challenges together. That way you get to hang out with friends AND craft. I call that a double win.

even getting together virtually often helps lift your spirits! Do a creative challenge by meeting in a Facebook Room or on Zoom, for example.

When you make a challenge project, I would of course love to see what you make. You can upload your entries using the form at the bottom of this page.

Now here are a couple of challenges for you:

Creative Challenge - Dry Embossing and Heat Embossing

Time to break out the inks and embossing tools:

  • Stamp on the inside of an embossing folder and run some cardstock through a Big Shot to create images behind an embossed field, such as in the card shown above. Choose an embossing folder that has some blank spaces as these show up inked images better
  • Sponge some colour on an embossing folder to create a rainbow or clouded effect on your cardstock, such as in the pretty Butterfly card pictured below made by Patricia Atherton:

Creative Challenge - Do a Craft Room Makeover!

Craft Room Makeover

I completely re-vamped my own craft room. It has taken a few months of planning, acquiring and putting things in place. I told about Part 1 and Part 2 of my craft room makeover. Now read the next stage in Part 3. Then go on to see a further Craft Room Makeover I have since done!

In the Part 1 story, I challenged you to have a look at your own craft room and change something in it, then take a before and after shot and upload them to show me how it turned out. It could be a big change or a small one.

If you are like me, I never planned to have such a big craft space, so I did no planning and it all grew haphazardly. I knew I could have a much more efficient and fun craft  room, so I took the plunge to re jig a lot of the space I had.

Next we moved, and I suddenly had a whole different room for crafting. I loved finding good solutions to storage in my new craftroom which was a different size and shape than my old one.

It can be done! Maybe my story will help YOU to have a better crafting space. It's all part of the Creative Challenge experience you have as a crafter.

I can't wait to see your entries Be sure to invite your friends to take part too. It's always fun to craft together, right?

When we do that, we always get to see so many other interpretations of the idea. I love that we all imagine different things for our projects.
