Question about Strong Crafting Glue

Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue

Hi!
I am new to this - I am an artist working with cardboard covers - they are all glued together with Elmer’s glue - in total they are 12 inch by 12 inch and weight about 2 lbs. I want to glue them to the middle of a matboard and frame them. I want them to be able to stay in the middle and not come down.
What do you think is the best glue / strongest glue to use for something like this?

Cardboard Glue

Thank you for your question. I will do my best to help, though I have limited experience with anything heavier than card stock.

Is your cardboard heavier than cardstock? I have included a paper weight graphic above to show the weights of the different papers I am familiar with. If your card board is no heavier than cardstock, then Tombow Multipurpose Liquid Glue will be sufficient. You can read more about card stock weight at this page about Card Stock/a> weights. You can see the chart I added to your post there in an easier to read format.

If the cardboard you are using is heavier than cardstock weight, then from a Google search I did, the Loctite Super Glue Control may be a better choice.

Another thing to consider when choosing a glue is its ability to age without becoming brittle and letting go, or changing colour. This might affect the materials you are gluing together.

Still another question is to consider how long the project needs to last. If it is to last for years, you need to choose an archival quality glue, such as a book binding glue. Elmer's Glue is listed as being a Bookbinder's glue, and it also has properties of flexibility if that matters with your project.
